Paul H. Mertz, 70, of Elizabethtown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home of natural causes. Born February 19, 1947 in Ephrata, he was the son of the late John F. and Mabel (Heiser) Mertz. He was married to Delores E. (Mishler) Mertz on June 28, 1969.
Paul retired from Hanger Clinic (formerly Teufel Associates), Elizabethtown and was currently employed with Fisher Auto Parts also in Elizabethtown. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors but above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife of over 48 years, he will be lovingly missed by two daughters, Danielle E. Becker (Robert), of Fort Loudon and Desiree E. Mertz, of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Jessica, Jordan, Janelle, Jason, Christopher, Curtis, Emma and Carter; 8 siblings: Jacob, John (Mae), James (Patricia), Ruth Leed, Mark (Karen), Samuel (Sandra), David (Sharon) and Mary Carol Parnell (Howard); as well as a sister in law, Barbara Mertz. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Anna and Luke Mertz.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main Street, Akron, PA 17501 with Pastor Tom Weber officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service.
